Yesterday was the Hoylake Cottage Ladies Lunch at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Wirral. It was fantastic to see such a great turn out of nattering ladies, dressed in their best, tucking into their three course meal and enjoying the entertainment and goodies at the Charity Event.
Hoylake Cottage is a local charity with the sole purpose of providing the highest possible standard of care for the elderly. The charity is fortunate to have a close affinity with the community, which provides over 150 volunteers who give a large proportion of their time supporting the service provision of older people’s care. Hoylake Cottage was established in 1898 as The Queen Victoria Cottage Hospital and was an important part of the local community, becoming part of the National Health Service in 1948.
The annual Golf Club event which took place yesterday, provides a brilliant opportunity for ‘ladies who lunch’ to have a good old catch up, meet new people, and see what’s going on locally, whilst also helping to raise money for a great cause.
I was lucky enough to be involved, assisting Nula Boutique, of West Kirby, who were showcasing their current range of Ladies Wear in a Spring themed Fashion Show. There were some great pieces on display, and it was interesting to see some new labels I’d not heard of too.
I attended another Charity Fashion Show earlier this week, at Wro Lounge, Wirral, organised by Friends of the Sea, who’s aim is to support local maritime charities which include Sea Cadets, Sea Scouts, UK North Blind Sailing School, Liverpool Seafarers Centre and many others, by giving out grants from monies raised through fundraising events and activities. The show included outfits from The Front Room boutique and Les Papillon lingerie, also in West Kirby, with gutsy models parading along the runway in fancy negligee and high heels! Very brave and highly commendable I thought! There were also cropped trousers, lightweight tops, floaty summer dresses, bikinis and beachwear which really got me in the mood for a new Spring/Summer wardrobe! Maybe a little too early yet!
I wholeheartedly believe in supporting other North West businesses, but especially fellow Wirral fashion businesses, and it’s great that – through the organisation of these relatively small but significant events, we can do so whilst also showing our support, and donating, whatever the amount, to a cause we should all care about!
